About me
My name is Sun. I am a Cambodian-American fanfiction and science writer based in the United States. On the creative side, I have been writing fanfiction for ten years. I fell in love with storytelling after enrolling in a creative writing course many years back. Although my work mainly focuses on fanfiction, I plan to remaster one of my fanworks into an original story.Outside of fanfiction, I am a researcher with aspirations of pursuing a PhD. I have written scientific papers in the fields of genetics, embryology, ecology, and biological/psychological musicology. My current research is on the potential of using music therapy to promote welfare in captive animals, particularly in non-human primates.
My Research

My main interest is in biological and psychological musicology. In other words, I study the physiological and psychological effects of music. In a recent meta-analysis, I explored the following question: how does music therapy affect the well-being of captive animals? My results have shown that most animal species find enrichment in music, except for non-human primates. This was a surprising outcome because humans do benefit from music therapy, and we share a common ancestor with non-human primates.Currently, I am continuing this research. My hope is to find a possible explanation as to why humans and most non-primate animals find music enriching while our closest relatives do not.
